This is going to be the home of my new blog.
About 8 years ago, at the height of PhD stress, I stopped making regular updates to my LiveJournal, just as that community was also dying out (growing up?). I loved writing “Reckless Intuitions”, and having an engaging and thoughtful audience was a big part of that.
I intend this to be a slow blog, in which I develop ideas that don’t easily fit into Facebook/Twitter. Topics are likely to be wide-ranging, but will likely concentrate in areas that I feel somewhat comfortable speculating on: Stats/ML, Artificial Intelligence, Languages (natural and formal), Computing, CogSci, Finance (including crypto) and Game Theory, … which is not to say that I will do so responsibly – the spirit of reckless intuitions lives on.
You may also see me discussing topics that fascinate me, but in which I have approximately zero qualifications, e.g. Biology (genetics, immunology, nutrition, psychiatric disorders, sleep), Sociology (community structure, group dynamics, inter-cultural communication, signaling respectability or group membership), Philosophy of Consciousness and Language (e.g. why it’s so hard to describe taste).
I’m open to suggestions. Looking forward to all of your comments.
